Meet the Author

Corey Bearak brings experience forged during 23 years in public service to counsel clients who face difficult public policy matters or special needs in dealing with government. Corey combines expertise in strategic public policy, politics and media to devise and manage strategies on behalf of trade unions, trade groups, coalitions, businesses, government and community agencies, individuals, public officials, and political candidates.
An attorney, Corey joined Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer's staff February 1, 1999 as Legislative Counsel. Through April 2003, Bearak served Ferrer's successor, Adolfo Carrion Jr. as Director of Planning, Policy and Budget. Previously, Corey served more than 16 years as Counsel/Chief of Staff to a northeast Queens City Council Member. Before joining city government, he served as an Assistant to then Secretary of State Mario Cuomo and in the Office of Bronx District Attorney Mario Merola.
From June 2003 through May 2005, he wrote a weekly column on complex public policy matters, The Public Ought to Know -- available as an ebook at Barnes and Noble (Nook), Amazon (Kindle) and Apple iBooks (for Mac, iPhone and iPad).
In addition to his practice as a Government and Public Affairs Counsel, Corey serves as Policy and Political Director for Amalgamated Transit Union Locals 1056 and 1179. He also maintains a private practice in law.

Dr. Jairo Borja, DBA, is the President of Borja Consulting Group & Financial Services Professional with Primary Financial. He helps families and businesses build wealth, protect assets, and manage cash flow. Jairo assists with investments, estate strategies, retirement, insurance, small business planning, and college funding. In addition, Dr. Borja assists small business owners with small business planning, strategy, and advice to small business owners. Also, Dr. Borja has spoken at several Fortune 500 companies, including New York Life and Mass Mutual. Also, he has spoken at First Calvary Baptist Church, Bloomfield College and, the University of Central Florida.

Jairo is also an International Best-Selling Author. Currently, he has a book out entitled “Networking Your Way to Success: 10 Steps to Building Relationships & Expanding Your Business for Entrepreneurs & Working Professionals.” His book discusses networking strategies and his 10 years of experience working in higher education. He is also the host of “The Dr. B Show” Podcast which highlights Hispanics in Human Resources and in Business. Also, he has a course on networking entitled “Transforming Your Way to Success” which takes you through an 8-week journey and go from networking novice to networking guru for your everyday business.

Dr. Jairo Borja, DBA, is on the board and is the Executive Vice President for Prospanica, New Jersey Chapter. Also, he was the treasurer. Before being the treasurer, he was the Vice President of Professional Development assisting with webinars and programming such as speed networking, for example, to benefit Prospanica members. Besides, Dr. Borja is the Co-Liaison for ASIS International NYC Chapter. Also, Dr. Jairo serves on the national Young Professionals Council for ASIS International. ASIS International is one of the largest organizations for security professionals to connect for the latest trends, certifications, workshops, monthly luncheons, and conferences throughout the world.

Dr. Jairo Borja, DBA, received his Doctor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing from Walden University in March of 2019. He also received his Master of Business Administration Degree in Management from Long Island University in May of 2007. Lastly, Dr. Jairo received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Management from Berkeley College in September of 2003.

Dr. Jairo Borja, DBA, lives in Linden, NJ, with his wife Sofia, daughter Emma and stepdaughter Emilie.
