On February 6th, 2017, the New York City Economic Development Corporation released a study exploring the feasibility of decking over Sunnyside Yard to allow for commercial job-intensive uses, affordable housing, open space, and other much needed community amenities. The City is expected to approach 9M by 2030. This is a unique, once-in-a-generation opportunity to accommodate the growing city, preserve Queens as a borough for families and deliver on much needed regional transportation infrastructure improvements, open space, increase housing supply and deliver quality jobs.
