Director of Behavioral Health Central Intake Services at Catholic Health

After two decades as a musician in New York City, Dr. Lawrence Ferber shifted gears and moved into the field of psychology. (He is a Licensed Psychologist in NY and CA.)

Now more than 20 years into his second career, Dr. Ferber has used his inspiration to help patients with a wide range of issues from substance abuse issues to anxiety and depression.

Dr. Ferber has channeled his energy into performing a great deal of work in engaging fathers with their children, as well as studying the effects of co-parenting on children.

Most recently, approximately 7 years ago, Dr. Ferber was asked to come to work for Catholic Health Services from Rikers Island, where he formerly worked for more than two years while helping to formulate the PACE Program. The PACE program was made up of the most difficult (treatment resistant) inmates/patients incarcerated on the Island and had a highly structured milieu of mental health treatment that was offered to this population versus punitive segregation.

His Catholic Health title is Director of Behavioral Health Central Intake Services. Aside from putting together a central intake service line when he was hired, he was asked to formulated and develop an internship for graduate students
