Long Island city High School, otherwise known as LICHS, is one of the most diverse schools in Queens. Our Community school serves grades 9 through 12 and has award winning programs in music and culinary arts. Expect to teach the skills and strategies to effectively read, write, speak, and listen in every one of your classes. Student learning will be applied throughout every facet of their development at LICHS. Instruction is largely student directed, hands-on, discovery-based, and collaborative.

At the Culinary Arts and Restaurant Hospitality Management Academy, students will learn technical skills that they will be able to apply in their careers and in everyday situations. The 21st Century skills learned in our subject areas promote and foster college and career readiness.

For this project, students were introduced to the concept of marketing and market research. They conducted their own research of the visitors and residents in the Queens community: demographics, income, how much money visitors spend, etc. Then as a group they brainstormed attractions which they thought would be unique and successful in our community. After evaluating and finalizing their choices, they created unique proposals describing the specific attractions, locations, and why these attractions would be great additions to Queens.
The final presentations are as follows:

CineMunch - A unique take of a movie theatre and restaurant.
Presenters: Michelle Melendez, Giselle Galindo, Fatima Vazquez, and Andres Garcia

Drive In Theatre - Unique drive in theatre in Queens!
