Wajana Pagan Volunteer
Wajana Pagan Volunteer My life was forever changed when my mother, at just 46 years old, passed away unexpectedly during surgery for an aneurysm. In that moment of profound loss, I remembered a conversation we had when I was 14, after I decided to get my driver’s license. I added the blue dot for organ donation, and when I showed her, she cried, proud of my choice. In the wake of her passing, I made the decision to honor her memory through organ donation. At that time, New York had just launched its organ donation program, and my mother became one of its first donors. This experience not only transformed my understanding of loss but also instilled in me a deep commitment to raising awareness about organ donation. Through my journey, I strive to share my story and encourage others to consider the life-saving impact of organ donation. I believe that even in our darkest moments, we can find a way to bring light to others.
