New laws, regulations and initiatives that may affect small businesses

The event will bring together OATH representatives as well as representatives from the City's enforcement agencies that issue alleged violations to discuss some of the most commonly issued summonses and notices, how to avoid violating conditions and how to contest summonses at OATH hearings.

Participants include: High-ranking officials from OATH, SBS and the Queens Chamber of Commerce and participants from the Departments of Health, Consumer Affairs, Buildings, Fire, Sanitation and Taxi and Limousine Commission and Commission on Human Rights. These enforcement agencies will also speak about new laws, regulations and initiatives that may affect small businesses. There will also be a Q&A session at the close of the program.

The New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) will join Queens Chamber of Commerce and NYC Council member Barry Grodenchik Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Hollis Queens Library — located at 202-5 Hillside Avenue. — to discuss different options available at OATH, which is the city's independent administrative law court, and where nearly every city agency files summonses for hearings.

New York City agencies that will be in attendance to discuss their enforcement practices include the New York City Departments of Sanitation, Buildings, Health and Mental Hygiene, Environmental Protection, and the FDNY, among others.
